Nearshoring offsets the post-pandemic decline in mergers and acquisitions in Mexico

This decline in transactions and the total of non-confidential amounts reflects a lower willingness for this type of deal, said Sergio García del Bosque, Managing Director of Seale & Associates, a firm focused on advising companies on M&A, corporate finance, and strategic consulting.

In an article published by Expansión, it is highlighted that mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Mexico contracted by 38.7% in 2023, reaching USD 10.546 billion compared to USD 17.204 billion the previous year, with 126 recorded transactions. This decline is attributed to rising interest rates, which increased financing costs.

The M&A market is expected to remain dynamic in 2024, driven by interest in nearshoring and the growing expertise of Mexican companies in these types of transactions.
